as and when we start producing indigo in quantities , by june this year, we shall start organising classes in the use of indigo natural dye on denim mateial, come and make your own denim jeans, jackets, cap, blouses, etc at half the price from retailers
indigo- expert, bapak sopandi
one of the foremost researcher in natural dye is bapak sopandi from indonesia, this man is incredible , he forays all over the world and right into the dark reaches of the jungle looking for evidences of the use of natural dye, and recently, we are advised that he conducts classes in the use of natural dye from clay? incredible!!, incredibly he has agreed to be our advisor and whenever in malaysia, he will reside at our premise, alhamdulillah
natural colours, - indigo
the last 6 months have been a revelation for me, the discovery of colours in nature, specifically blue from indigo or as the malay call it pokok tarom, how great is god, creater of the universe, from the leaves of the indigo plant, the colour blue , in various shades, can be extracted for use, why did mankind ever revert to extracting colour from chemicals?. this is another western conspiracy, we have managed to successfully grow indigo in our farm and have also successfully extracted the blue colour, the first of its kind in malaysia, by may this year, the indigo plants should be flourishing

my stroke
it seems that on the evening of 1st.july 2005, the combination of whisky and durian i had during the day must have zapped my brain thus shutting down my left side control, then my inactivity for six months must have atrophied the muscles. now its to regain back use, almost there in walking, must walk everyday for the rest of the year and doa every night that allah will forgive me for my past drinking and then restore the part of the brain that controls left sided movement, allahuakbar!!!!!!
batik classes

come and find out from 1st. feb.2008
lyanne batik, branding
in our search for the above, i have suggested to the wife a new brand, free willy, for batik sarongs for men, ever noticed how mens sarong are so bland, lets jazz it up a bit, dont you think so, free willy, ask sally!!!!!!!!!!!
batik classes at lyanne batik, from 1st. feb 2008
our new facility will open from 1st feb2008 and charges are rm65/- for adults and a 50% discount for children, classes commence from 10.00 am and last for 5 hours, students will be taught and have practical hands on experience in the art of batik making and will bring back with them, the batik that they produce, either a pareo, shawl, tudung, t shirt or scarf. online support is available. light refreshments are available at our cafe and transport can be arranged at prevailing rates.
batik classes, lyanne batik, rm35/-for schoolchildren
we are currently constructing a 5,000 sq. ft. classroom facility on an elevated portion of our land, with a stunning view of the surrounding foliage, the intention is to hold batik classes in numbers, especially for schoolchildren, our rationale is that these children are the future buyers, so if later on in their adult life, they become avid batik users, the batik market should bloom, and not to teach them about any batik, but to teach them to appreciate the true batik tulis as compared to the numerous printed batik that currently proliferates, to teach them to appreciate especially the art of tjanting, just imagine, if each one of these children buy just one piece of batik a year in their adult life, a whole new market opens, thats what kekwa and penyayang should be doing, we are charging just rm35/-per kid, enough for us to break even, but this is my crusade, so maybe someone from kekwa or penyayang reading this can come and help us out, we nee help to sustain this crusade
pulau meranti, developments
it seems that most of the folks in the kampung that i have identified to work with have disappeared into a very big hole, where are they? if not on some sort of rela operasi, they will have another jkkk meeting. a classic cost of NATO?, no aCTion , talk only?.surely , the rela allowance of rm8/- per hour is a pittance to what they can make, but meetings and appointments are never taken seriously, where is the discipline?huh, my good friend says just ignore them, yeah move on without them, all this seems far away from what i am used to where time is important, very important and if you can't make an appointment you call ahead, not just go stone cold. yeah move on without them, move on
recovering from stroke
i can feel the muscles growing in my affected left leg, specially the part near the ankle. this must be due to the constant walking every day and standing while at prayers, will force this throughout this year, still feel weak around the ankle,at what stage will the leg be strong enough for me to walk smoothly? dear god, please i just want to walk around my kebun and not join the big walk, just to walk around here, help me!!!
batik classes lyanne batik
what is the essence of batik? surely its the art of tjanting, that cannot be found in any other art, a batik class that does not offer lessons tjanting is surely an art class and not a batik class, so dont get ripped off by cheap batik class that offers only colour dipping on a 1 ft by 1 ft piece, in batik, tjanting is a must. lyanne batik offers the complete spectrum, you will leave inspired and knowledgeable, and our online support is available at any time

lyanne batik, penyayang
penyayang has taken a high profile in the development of the batik industry in malaysia, the efforts of the late datin endon was phenomenal, singlehandedly she has propelled malaysian batik to the forefront her passing left a big hole in the promotion of malaysia's batik, is datin leila up to the mark? dont know!!!!!!, dont know much about penyayang, except their website, wow a whole bunch of powerful people. but has there been any analysis of how penyayang is funded, what makes them tick, and what are the achievements that can be quantified, maybe penyayang can be more tranparent?
pulau meranti- developments
another power base aside from the mosque is most obviously the school. here, again the ketua kampung holds sway through control of the pibg.. such consolidation of power in one man makes me nervous and suspicious, so much so that i am weary of making donations to the school dont know where my money is going, mind you
lyanne batik-eric way
i love the comment made by mr eric way, limkokwing university of creative technology international lifestyle design advisor, quote
every piece is handcrafted and a work of art, its the equivalent of gourmet food,
so kekwa and sirim, listen up promote batik as the gourmet of the fashion world and not treat it as junk food whereas the objective was to produce voluminous quantities at the lowest price, thats not what its about. good on yer eric, do come around for a chat

pulau meranti, developments
in my regular teh tarik and roti canai sessions, i have unearthed several facts of kampung life, one of which is that , the clubbing scene is at the mosque and pak rahman's warong stands guard at the warong entrance, pak rahman himself an avid volunter who cleans the mosque at every community. did you know that for every certified mosque in selangor, under the sultan's jurisdiction there exists a hierarchy of paid part time employees, the siak being at the bottom rung paid rm 250/- a month. his job us to maintain the mosques cleanliness, this job is highly sought mainly because it gives the incumbent the right of access within the inner chambers at any time ,some incumbents and pretenders have been known to be on not speaking terms for a while in their jostling, ultimately the mosque committee chairman, invariably the ketua kampung , holds sway. this is one kampung power base and for every power base, there exists opportunity to sanction tolls.does such toll go towards improving or maintaining the mosque or the chairmans very wide pocket depends on the nature of the person, this is not democracy in action, but feudal warlordism at its basest level.theres no check and balance, the sultan is too far away and busy with his own agenda,
batik classes- a cursory comparison for tourists
for tourists visiting malaysia's klang valley, one of the activities offered is to attend batik making classes, a quick search unearths several offered in the klang valley, among others
1. at lyanne batik, which offers beginners coursesfrom USD 7 TO USD 25.
2 AT TMS ART, starting fromUSD 100/-
3. at jadi batik centre from usd 14/-
4. mat dollah batik, from usd 40/-
5. sam karuna, fine art centre, from usd 300/-
6. wilayah batik, usd5/-
such a wide range of prices, begs the question IS THERE A standard curriculum to learn from, most definitely not, its pretty obvious that wilayah batik offers slap/ bang batik classes, you come then splash over a tiny piece of cloth, perhaps 1 ft by 1 ft. might as well enjoy the swimming pool at the hotel, sams courses are spread over 3 months, one can learn bit by bit , obviously tailored for the bangsar expat community,
lyanne batik offers a friendly atmosphere in real time kamping settings, definitely the best value for money deal for batik classes.

lyanne batik, travel agents guides
for 2008 to be successful, we at lyanne batik need travel agents to converge to our place, how do i go about it, do i park myself at klia, lcct? dear god, give me the one contact that can spread like a virus to bring tourists here
lyanne batik-heading where
lyanne batik is now entering its third year of operation, what does the future hold?how do we move forward? well, i see a lot of positives, but can we grab and build on it hopefully my wife will be able to find the break shes looking for.
recovering from stroke
in my endeavour to find a cure for my paralysis, i have sought treatment from numerous characters but none can beat ustaz dasuki of ikim, till today i am torn between proclaiming him a fraud and on the other hand mindful that herewith is a supposedly religious man, most of the time spewing ana and anta, what the hell, he managed to get me to mandi limau around 50 times, can you belive that? my conclusion, today, maybe well meaning, but a definite fraud, for those thinking of seeing him, be careful, just remember that its not him, its ALLAH WHO has the power, only allah. another character is pak uda, but thats another story for another day

lyanne batik, fine tuning our batik classes
it took a rude chinese tour operator for me to revisit the form and format of our batik claSSES. in the beginning, we geared the classes to the hobbyists market, well that is now proven futile, they dont come here enough
now, we have to reformat, price it low enough for it to be attractive, and ensure that any aspiring batik student will, upon leaving our place, will have an experience and a product that he or ahe has produced on own and is of use in his life.whats the use of coming here , spending say rm50/- and leaving empty handed?watch out for our new and revised flyers coming out soon

pulau meranti, - developments
one of my theraphies is to saunter to our local, ie the warong near the masjid for teh tarik and roti canai. nasi lemak and lontong are no,no. my dear cholesterol on the high side.lumps on arm and thighs.i have managed to talk to and get to know a fair number of villagers and along the way discovered what makes kampung pulau meranti ticks, or more accurately, why it seems to be enveloped in a time warp. my efforts to empower the villagers to form a cooperative in search of a sustainable economic activity has reached pink floyds brick wall.now, after 50 years of merdeka, for the very first time do i understand why the chinese have it easy in malaysia. the malay malaise in kampungs throughout malaysia is truly one to be savoured, truly malaysia mahathir was right, but he made the mistake of playing god, thats where the error is, theres only one god, ALLAH.as for the kampung villagers, its easier to succumb to the chinese by renting or selling their land , or become their subservient choreboys, instead of empowering oneself. so, maybe in another 25 years, this kampung will be devoid of malays. i had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with the local adun. my impression is that heres a polite and capable young man, a california graduate in political science, hopefully he can make a difference. my dilemna is that do i now prod him or just stand aside and let whatever is fated unfolds itself. the latter seems the current preferred choice, i am no longer young and able and of course, cash is running low.
lyanne batik exports to brunei and australia
2007 was also the year we were successfull in exporting to both brunei and australia. 2008 will be the year to consolidate these markets and add others such as singapore, japan, usa and europe. heck a whole lot of work and all on our own, no kekwa, matrade, mosti and whatever else that has the government goodies. do we at lyanne batik, need them. you bet!but do we have to chase them?, unlikely, what we are doing would benefit them most boost their ego to the stratosphere, but do they come a knocking, except for kraftangan selangor, hardly ever, it seems they have placed themselves as an elite group in malaysian batik, well spending public money is easy, but just bear in mind you are answerable to the public, theress little me and my colleagues who are plodding along on our own, please help!come and work together, lets move forward together.
lyanne batik turning to natural dyes, warna alam
yes 2007 was also the time when we at lyanne batik, decided that beginning 2008, we will move to the use of natural dyes to replace all this nasty synthetic dyes, beginning with indigo for the colour blue. we started planting the indigo and anato in august 2007,with seeds brought by one of the foremost natural dye expert in the world, bapak sopandi from indonesia. bapak sopandi has been with us since then, and together with our inhouse plant expert, both types of plant are now proliferating nicely within our nursery in kampung pulau meranti. the indigo has even been cultivated and indigo cake was successfully produced for the first time in malaysia we will gradually use natural dye and expect to be fully natural by mid year. we understand penyayang has obtained grants from mosti to undertake research in natural dye, as the grant is public money, we hope and trust that very soon, penyayang will make public all its research findings as we are very keen to learn. we did not see any natural dye produced by penyayang at the recent klib as promised.what happened?get going will ya, if any assistance is needed, do contact us.
lyanne batik, lyanne batik, lyanne batik
2007 has been an eventful year for lyanne batik, the highlights being:-
a. we won our first tender to supply to majlis perbandaran kuantan, around 1300 piecies of batik., well thats a 100% record, now in 2008, we have to go for more tenders, mainly for the ipts.
i am too sleepy now, will continue later after suboh, suboh sudah di buat, we participated in numerous other tenders where thousands of pieciesof batik were required and therein stumble upon the exact nature of the ails afflicting the malaysian batik industry. how can you ever produce thousands of piecies of batik in the name of god?,did leonardo da vinci produce more than one mona lisa? batik is an art!, and the heart of batik is the tjanting process thats where skilled artisan spend hours creating their mastepiece, my dear yb's yb's, datuks- datuks.when you need to produce thousands of piecies, what happened datuks -datuks? yes, for whatever peasized brain left, the whole art of batik is raped and pillaged, the sanctity of batik is violated, carpetbaggers will rush in, as they will surely do, where quick money is to be made, so that batik in malaysia is degenerating into a printing business.,printing textiles with machines cost as little as fifty cents in kepong, whilst the pure original batik tulis or chop ranges from rm10/- to rm 20/-per meter run.so , my dear kekwa and penyayang datuks- datuks, now that you have budgets of million of ringgit to promote malaysian batik for the world, have you ever pondered for a while and thought about what is it you are promoting, realtime batik or printed batik?wake-up lah. malaysian batik is begging to be definedand standardised or else it signals the end of all the batik artists and entrepreneurs, its not about kekwa, penyayang or ah wong batik, its about that one man who dedicates his life to the art of batik, like razalis batik, hes the one who will innovate and bring malaysian batik to the next level, he has no means to purchase expensive textile printing machinery, hes in it for the love of batik, standards are required, starting with the type and quality of the raw material, like how many threads there are, then say it out loud that it must be either batik tulis or batik chop, define malaysian batik, anything else must and should be rejected, where is sirim?, its fine to make a tjanting machine, but my dear good friend datuk zul,an efficient tjanting machine, if sirim can one day make it, will gut the heart of malaysian batik, so please order your boys to focus on a malaysian standard for batik covering from the beginning until packaging and delivery. it wont cost much, perhaps one or two of your engineers for a month, please do this, instead of the favourite @dmethod of others, i.e. overseas trips with the whole gang, enough lah.after fifty years of merdeka bila nak maju?.

) to kKUALA LUMPUR, malaysia's capital, bordered in the south east by the administrative capital, PUTRAJAYAand the msc city of CYBERJAYA, on the north by the IOI MALL, this is now the fastest growing area inthe KLANG VALLEY OF MALAYSIA, there are many evidences of this for one who know of what to look for. KAMPUNG is a malay word for village for you foreigners reading this, typically, as other rural malay community allOover the country, its characteristics are
1. majority malay population and quite numerous indonesians and bangladeshis, remnants from the building craze iitiated by mahathir(OUR PREVIOUS PRIME MINISTER) in putrajaya and cyber jaya.
2.
